“I didn’t embark on this career to win a plaque. It was a calling that I felt. The music inside of me, the music of my Inca ancestors, needed to be expressed, shared with the world. Getting awards for making music has been great, though, especially when they are given to me by politicians for whom I have the greatest admiration, like Senator Kerry or the late Senator Kennedy.”
